National Junior Golf Association

NJGA Majors

National Junior Golf Association will run four major tournament every season. NJGA season will go September 30th to September 30th. With the final major every year being the NJGA National Championship over Labor Day weekend. We will host a major every three months. December being the first major of season, March being the second, June being the third, and September being the final major of the season.

We will host our majors as a two day/three-day events. Each major will also be a qualifier for another big junior event in the world. At all four majors we will have a guess speaker one night and a college recruiting night.

You will have to qualify for all four majors with the NJGA National Championship begin the toughest one to qualify for. Each major will have a cut off-date to qualify or to fall under an exemption. Please note if you qualify or get an exemption it is only good for the current major that is next to be played, so therefore you will have to qualify for each major unless you fall under the full exempt status.

How to Qualify for the Majors?

  1. You can qualify for the first three majors by being in the top 10 in the NJGA point system, Junior Golf Scoreboard, and Global Junior Golf Rankings but each major will have a cutoff date that you must be in the top 10 to qualify for the major. For example, if you are in the top 10 in the rankings for the first major cutoff date but not in the top 10 in the rankings for the second major cutoff date, you will qualify to play in the first major but you will not be qualified to play in the second major because you are not in the top 10 in the rankings by the cutoff date for the major.
  2. Finish in the top 5 in a NJGA two/three-day event before the current major cut-off date. For example, if you finish in the top 5 before the cut-off date for major 1, you will qualify to play in major 1 but you will not be qualified to play major 2 unless you fall under the full exempt status or another exemption category or you finish top 5 in a NJGA two-three date event before the cut-off date for major 2 and same rules for major
  3. Win a NJGA one day event before the current major cut-off date. Your exemption for this category is only good for the current major that is next to play. You will have to qualify for the next major.
  4. Invitation from the NJGA Staff. We will use how the player is playing in the current season, attitude on and off the course, and the player commitment to the game to pick our invitations.
